Patient M. was a chain smoker and had been for the last 30 years.  As she was smoking around 50 - 60 cigarettes a day, M's doctor was naturally very concerned for her health, but had been unsuccessful at persuading her to cut down or stop.  Treatments for addictive urge and psychological reversal removed M's craving totally.  She was advised to repeat the algorithms whenever the urge to smoke returned.  Follow-up a week later revealed that M. was still smoking but now only 6 - 8 cigarettes a day.  She also said that this was because she was regularly in the company of other smokers and "didn't want to be left out" even though the urge to smoke was not present.
Treatment time:  20 minutes
